Well everyone Christmas is just around the corner which also means so is the Game fishing season, here are a few threads for you all to use to make updates about whats happening in your local area.

Have noticed they removed the old post. As long as you fishers are keen ill try to keep you updated with latest from Waihau. Nothing to report yet but the temp is rising slowly. Check out the latest fishing news . Also watch out for Jan issue.

On boxing day we had a pod of a few hundred dolphins and heaps of bait behind whale. No tuna gear of course but thats fishing.

hi guys
i got a strike today at 8 am off the back of scooner in 85 metres of water temp 20.8,we dropped it after 2 min looked like a nice fish , the lure was a trophy lure in pink/yellow/white i think they call it mauve bait fish with  T 7 in the head
 
we had only been trolling 10 min max ,i was still setting the lure pattern 
 
oh well there is all ways tomorow

Run down the 1000 from white to the cape on 4th water temp got colder turned and run down to Amio bay temp got better. next day run down to whale on the 150 got 23.6 off whale only loads of albits loaded up at Astrolabe live KY on 37 Tiargra 80 16kg drag 3/4s line out upped drag to @ 24ish broke at chaffed spot morell of the story change line after puka fishing AyePinchCensored

moral of the story sharktail...if you've got 3/4 of your 80 lb line out you should be backing the drag off not upping itOuch

Diving forward, at an angle but only at a speed the angler can keep winding at.
I've had nearly 900 metres of 15 kg out and just in free-spool with thumb on spool!

Fish came up with Missing Bill. Longterm damage obviousley.
 
Looked like a 300kg spear fish.
 
No damage to boat,.

Fight time. 2 and a half hours.
 
Took around 900 mtrs on the first run. Then played stuburn to the boat.
 
The fish dug in for the last hour.
 
Good fight and good fun.

Sea has been unfishable for a few days. Today been first opportunity for the boats to get back into it. Nothing to report however but albies and skippis.

Plan is to leave AKL Friday afternoon and be off the Backbone by Sunday afternoon.

But that depeands on a) weather and if a) OK then b) there being some action worth covering 1000nm round trip for.

I'm sorry to say that we won't be seeing Waihau this year. 

Original plan was to be leaving Great Mercury for White about now but Wilma has determined that I am sitting in Dairy Flat planning to leave Z Pier for points North in 24 hours time.

Never mind, there's always next year.

Thats no good David was hoping to catch up with you's on the water later in the week but as you say there's always nxt year.
Then again the bueaty about a trailer boat is you dont have to rely on a good forcast to make the trip down by sea.

the guy's on oceanside deserve their fish! They were leaving the camp at Whakatane as we towed in after the tournament was cancelled to head up to Waihau.

They certainly put in the hard yards!
