see you next week gentleman:

added topics:
using as many people and tools as possible to tie a knot
preferring reels without preset drags for marlin
how to make sure you hook as few marlin as possible

rather than tell you you are all wrong about most things, I'll be agreeing with all common practices and re-enforcing that what you are doing is 100% correct!

yeh ........... only joking :)

not at all, looking forward to it!
just think about a number of recent posts and the reasons the talks are important. Those ARE things that have come up in topics and discussed, perhaps not in those words.

Peter - will it be a problem if i take my video cam along with me? Helps to go back over things when it is a bit less busy.

hopefully by discussion and demos, reasoning you come to some conclusions regardless of the where you start. The best conclusion is just that.

By discussing how not to hook marlin you end up closer TO hooking them, etc.

I'm sorry if my post came accross as sarcastic, was supposed to be humor. Lucky I'm not trying to make a living as a stand up comic!

Yes, by all means video all you want.

Seriously Pete, these are kiwis you are talking about, we're even thicker and more inbreed than Tasmanians, the basics is as far as you need to go.

Why do you need a dvd cam when you have the BTL's on Peters site, most off it is there

If a game fish cost you$1k -2 -5 -10 k to catch because you did not get one the last time you where out then what is it with most people that say ,(if you do not come to me I will not go to you).

Take it from me Peter is the best I have heard and seen on the NZ circuit in the recent years, that I have met , spend the time and money to learn, it will make a difference to how you think about game fishing.

Well if he was coming to the Bay of Plenty I'd be there but there's no way I'll go back to Palmy Nth unless I'm being paid to be there!  We just had a visit from Bonze at our club, which was very informative.

You asking me or wanabe?

Last season was our first serious go at game fishing and we landed one striped marlin at 127 kg and one Albacore at just over 20 kg, (not counting the countless skippies and coke bottle sized albacore).  So at this stage we are one for one for Marlin however I am quite sure that our 100% record will not last for too long.

It is a real pity Peter is not coming to the BOP as part of this tour as I am sure he would talk to a packed clubroom, because of the 32000 odd affiliated members of the NZSFC, 16,000 are members of the Coromandel or Bay of Plenty clubs.

I like these talks from very experienced fisherman and I go to every one that I hear about in the Tauranga area. My philosophy is that you never stop learning and are contiually picking up little snippets of info at these talks, I may not agree with all their ideas but it makes you think and you can adapt your style to incorporate the better points of what they are doing. For the new chum these are invaluable events and anybody getting into gamefishing should make a point of going to one of Peters talks if they are in the right area. I have been to his talks before and love them.

Murph

I was not saying you have not caught fish .

But I can say that I have heard lots of people saying it cost to much to learn, you are one up on me but I have also caught 150lb Yellowfin, sails gts, and others

Peter is one of the best and I would encourage anyone to go learn ,every time you listen to him you learn more

Mate I'd love to go to one of Peter's seminars and I understand what you were saying.  I was just having a dig at Palmy because I wasted too many years living in the place.

been to a few of these now and this one was the best so far, no mincing words just black and white and no B.S loved it, if you get the chance to go, get along and ask the questions, talk about a few things to think about, loved it and very informative.

Really enjoyed the discussion - thanks Peter very interesting talk. Certainly a man who thinks about the small things that add up to make the whole picture on gamefishing. Look forward to trying some on the water this season Thumbs Up
