I spoke to some one in a fishing store doing a repair on a new one, they gave the reel a very mixed review after pulling it apart..... ------------- A king on the bricks is worth 5 in a boat. |

Hard to recommend a Saltist spin across the range. Better reels are out there in thast price range/ Incidentally does Daiwa has a fully fledged service centre in NZ and do dealers offer full warrantys?? An issue across Asia ex Japan is that Daiwa is poorly ogransied, getting spare part is s nightmare, productd sold with no warranty etc. Daiwa seems to do well ln Japan , Aus and the UK but neglects elsewherein Asia where Shimano cleans upe with its store in store arrangements.

Sorry if it came over that way mate, that was not my intention. I am certainly not anti Daiwa products and am a happy owner of a Saltiga Z 6500. My point about lack of after sales support remains though - in my experience they ain't very good at it outside of the markets I mention, and get eaten by Shimano in that respect. I think this should be a consideration when evaluating any Daiwa purchase. My query about support from Daiwa in NZ was a genuine question. If you have it then great. Apologies again if my response came over in the wrong way. |

Saragosa is the obvious one. You also might want to look at the Fin-nor Offshore spinning series.. a bit cheaper and reliable. They do tend to be low on the gear ratio though. |

Sustain, pretty much a twinpower out of Malaysia. Heaps more range in drag than saragossa, They are essentially an upgraded Spheros. |
