Ok here goes, some honest feedback now I have had the rods and reels for a bit of time and used his braid, I am not sure the best route to do a review but will combine the reel/rods into the two sets

REEL BAIT CASTER This reel is actually quite small but so far has held up to some pretty big kahawai Some features High speed infinite reverse (means no ratchet sound) even winding Adjustable spooling small know on the right hand side (saves tangles) The cover on the LH side is removable and the reel pops out very easy This For casting it works well but like every reel like this keep a thumb on the spool to avoid tangles however I have not had one mishap yet compared to multiple tangles with the cheapy warehouse reel I had Retrieving is super fast as its a high speed reelphoto is the suppliers one, once the batterys are charged I will post some of my reel ------------- Always learning |

This was teamed up withHYPA-FLICK SOFT PLASTICS FISHING ROD I have found this rod to perform well so far and is a perfect match to this reel, I have been using it with some small jig heads and the fish seem to like the combination Last Saturday hooked into a 70cm Kahawai and it was some work but the rod performed well I dont tent to pull the rod and reel apart but took some advice from on here and gave it a warm shower after each fishing trip, then left near the fire to dry out for a few days ------------- Always learning |

| Graphite blanks and all rod blanks for that matter have a back bone and are only designed to really be bent one way, bending on a angle different to the backbone can cause premature breakages! If that makes sence |

so? this type of rod is designed to bend with the hoops underneath not on top? heck it has had a bit of a caning the wrong way then to be honest and its still working

 Did you notice a tendency for the reel to want to "turn over" while you were playing your monster kahawai?By holding the rod in such a way that the reel stays on top, means that the rod blank will be placed under a lot more stress than it was designed to handle.
Eventually it will let you down but, it won't really be the rods fault

| used alot of this gear in aussie chasing barra in the parks in qld,found it to be ok but for the serious fisher there is a lot better,the gears let them down big time also they break under extreme pressure,saw one blow the side plate off on a 13kg barra at the boat,also i was told by a rep over there the rods are silstar blanks not to sure on that |

| The other problem with a rod designed for a spinning (fixed spool) reel is that the guides wont necessarily be spaced to keep the line off the blank, the problem with that is a decent run with mono touching the blank will see the mono 'melt' or with braid it will start cutting up the blank. I have used all sorts of cheap stuff over the years and it will still catch fish. I've never caught a lot of good fish on cheap gear though it's always buggered up sooner or later. Good quality gear will literally catch 100's of fish and still be going strong if it's looked after. Keep us posted on what you find Nitro. |

well hey if it hasnt broken and your using it the wrong way and back to front while standing on ya head then maybe when used properly it will stand the test of time...Im sure rod testers/developers do things to blanks and rods that would not happen under normal fishing circumstances..just say your doing R&D then it will be acceptable.. ------------- as dead as dead is |

I did see a fishing show once with a well known angler using a spinning reel on the the top side of the rod and winding "backwards". I have to say I though that was bloody strange!
NZ Nitro is obviously doing a similar thing without realising it by using a baitcaster on a spinning rod. i too would be worried about the braid hitting the rod but saying that there is a baitcasting rod on the market in NZ from a big name that has the braid hitting the blank too and it really should'nt do this.

Ive gt a mate who did the same thing nitro, we told him but he didnt care. He had scored them from a garage sale for $20. So funny when he caught fish it would want to twist and finally broke. Try the baitcaster model and you will really be fishing. ------------- Synit Prototype bender |

That was a omoto Kam 300, jus gat a Kam 500 2 speed arrived yesterday, loaded it with 500M 80lb braid ready for deeper stuff (don't get me wrong, I got alot of other good reels but when I saw these I jus couldn't resist it) wanted to give them a go. So far so good! I don't like the look of the blue or red ones though...........they jus not the same quality

Actually this WAS referring to the TM gear as that is what I purchased, it was to be my take on the GEAR I WAS USING not some generic comment of the state of this gear, never mind... thread has a mind of its own now

This was TM gear nitro from premium fishing
Rod was a pelagic 15 - 24kg fully rolled,

A year or so ago I bought a small Relix baitcaster from these folk via TradeMe.
It's a slightly different model from Nitro's one shown, and left-hand drive.
It was exactly what I expected, and I spooled it up with light braid topshotted over mono (the line cost more than the reel).
Though its gears are not nearly as smooth as my Shimanos', I would expect no more from something that cost <10% what the Shimanos did. The drag is very good, at this stage at least.
I have caught a reasonable number of large pannie snapper (ie 45-50cm +/-), it's my reel for lending to guests who want to try out fishing braid with a baitcaster for the first time (so a good test), and it still seems same as new.
I think the thing was good value and would be surprised if it breaks any time soon. Even if it does, I would have had my few bucks' worth out of it. ------------- PJ |

good site, but im not going to strip the reel down any further than the first few photos, To be honest the reels I purchased have had some pretty bad feedback on here from others but if your not a guy walking around in Khaki shorts and camouflage paint on the face, but are just your average fisho going out in your boat for a spot of fishing In my opinion this gear is fine
