Hi, i know this has come up a few times on the forum but what i am after is some more specific information. I have moved from the Aquarius cream and no more tears etc to using this stuff call Goo which is probably the same as the stuff that OH sells. Can anyone tell me what it is? I suspect its that vet lube people talk about. Product is green. I want some more but don't want to purchase it at the $$$$$$$ charged by OH.
Thanks

Appreciate all the spots you gave me too. Havn't had a chance to try them all out yet. Been out for a look but suspect the kings are starting to go deep/north now.

hey speromike, can you reply / pm with how you get on with the vet lube? i have used that OH stuff before and it was good. Shampoo or whatever makes me feel crook as soon as I put the suit on, I hate the stuff but that is all I use at present. be keen to hear how it goes. cheers

oldyella, I've used vet lub for the last 10 years , that is what OH lub was made off , the vet lub is good it is water base so mild on your skin and has a biult in disenfectant, so your suit dose not start to grow any nasties, you should be able to buy it at any vet

I see there was a discussion some while ago about the use of seawater. Certainly a good boy scout option, but I am too much of a sook to dunk my skinny carcass in the sea without copious amounts of neoprene on. I did forget my wetsuit once in 14degC wellington water (yup, wetsuit, go figure), and tried out 10 minutes in my "smalls". It was hard to hold my breath. It was hard to even breathe out.
I'm a sucker for lubricants.

someone a while ago mentioned alpha-keri oil.it is used for moisterising skin( like baby oil) and relief for eczema/dermatitis. its available at any pharmacy ( cheap $7). its really strange as its an oil that mixes with water. so I add a spoonful to my powerade lube bottle and i slip right into my wettie. with soap I used have dry skin now climb out my wettie all moisterised . just looked at the bottle and its main ingredient is lanolin oil. smells good to

I have been using plain old seawater for a while now. I just dunk the suit, trappping some water inside as I bring it out of the water, then sliding legs and arms in fairly quickly. Seems to be very effective.

For a hygeneic way you could use Water mixed with a lubracant (Shampoo or W/E) And a little bit of detol ?

Effesub suits do have a coating that makes donning easier though. Mine has almost completely worn off on the hood which does get a little sticky on a hairless scalp

I only ever use soap to get into smoothies, plain sea water works for me.

I squirt some some soap free babywash (a 3 month old does have uses) into a bottle then dilute heaps. Seems ok and no rashes or stingy eyes yet.

UJ, I have a theory that it is cheap sunscreen that makes the rubber go sticky and the coating to come off. My experience has been that my hoods get all sticky around the neck and face areas - basically where sunscreen goes. I am trying more expensive but less oily sunscreen to see if it makes a difference

given that mine go sticky on the top of the head also and I apply sunscreen to my baldy, I think you're right! I fail to see where the cost of the offending sunscreen comes into it though?

I have bought some neutrogena stuff which seems better, but it is more expensive than the cheap rubbish sold in fishing shops etc, that's all.

I had thought that the wear to the inside of the hood was just from scanning, but I guess the trouser thighs would show even more wear if that was the case.
By jove I think you are right TSW.

righto, i have purchased this stuff today and let me write out what it says on the outside of the container "if skin or hair contact occurs remove the clothing and flush the skin and hair with running water" now i am not scientist but that does not sound like its a good idea to put on ones skin. The chap at CRT said it should be fine but i did not read the label till i got it home.
Thoughts anyone??

righto, had a crack with the stuff today. (vetlube) was very good, nice and slippery. Both myself and my buddy tried it and no issues with irritation or anything.

It goes on the cow/ sheep/ cat/ what ever animal the vet is violating that day's skin.
You should be OK

yeah but that warning.... wash off skin if it touches it. Must be 1 in a million who have an issue with irritation.

I guess so, but it goes on the sensitive bits of the animal the vet is examining. If it gave em burns it would not be cool..
Probably similar warnings on KY Jelly packets, Kolt may be able to help out with that info

Can't say I've ever had a rash from the ol' sunlight soap. And I'm in my suit all day some days out in the boat. Maybe I'm just lucky and have tough skin

I use ecostore dw liquid and it's the best lube I've found rash-wise. Apparently it's made out of plants (slippery ones I guess).
