what knot do i use and how do i tie it? some kind of line joiner knot only thing is i dont know how to tie any

| google bimini twist and yucatan knot. the first one to double the braid, and the second one to join the doubled braid to the fluorocarbon |

| I find the easiest, quickest (especially when in the boat) and most secure for me is the Albright knot, fold over the mono, thread the braid through the loop, twist up the mono lines 10 times, keep twisting back down and out through the mono loop again. That's it. |

Me too. 6 turns of mono and about 15 turns on the braid, heaps of saliva, pull it up carefully and away you go. |

Use the albright for shock leaders for surf casting and for tying on my traces for strayling as I dont bother with swivels for this, works well joining 2 lines of different diameters Just doesnt require as many turns when its mono on mono.
My second most useful fishing knot after the uni knot.
I guess you could say I like it

Been a few threads on this - I'd been using a bimini + surgeons combo until the last time it was discussed and it was pointed out that just doubling the braid and tying the surgeons was a) quicker and b) in theory, just as strong. So have been using that option (4 turn surgeons) ever since and it's worked well. ------------- Online... |

I've been using a knot called the "slim beauty" for the last few years. Only change was to use 7 turns up and 7 turns back in the doubled braid. First saw it published in an old edition of Geoff Wilsons knot book, but its missing from recent editions. A version can be found at http://www.netknots.com - www.netknots.com
Originally I tied braid to either end of a piece of leader using different knots, secured one end, and then loaded up until the weakest knot broke. For me the winner time and agian was the slim beauty.

Been using the Allbright and found if you do not thread the braid through the loop at the end in the same way it entered it will pull out every time....I have just discovered this. ------------- I STARTED THE DAY WITH NO FISH AND I STILL HAVE PLENTY LEFT |

Ive aways fed the tag end out the opposite way to it going in and never had issues. I just use a Spider hitch and allbright. I just looked at an animated site doing the allbright and it went out the same way it went in so I may give it a try it might just save me with that fish of a lifetime ------------- Fishing Anytime Anywhere with Anyone |

| If I go 6lb or less, then I double the braid to use as one piece, then tie a 4 turn surgeons, otherwise dont double just tie straight to leader. The leader should be long enough from hook to join to stop fish tail beats from slicing the braid, hence a metre long or one rod length of leader/fluro. Any knot you can repeatedly tie without stuffing it is the best, so pick one, sit down with braid & trace, & practice. |

PR knot on Kingie lines.
On a casting set up such as a soft bait rig, you need the leader to be long enough so that the line you are holding when you lift the bail over is not braid but is the leader. ------------- One more Kingie |

| I use the allbright and prefer it to the double uni. Also can google it and see an animated version of how to tie them. Double the fluoro and wind the braid around it. The animated website is excellent and having tried a number of methods it is handy to find a knot you can tie readily. I retied all my knots yesterday as got tangles with others and rarely do a get a bust off from the knot. I have more trouble with genie clips and they are more often my source of a bust off!!! |

This what i use but i do a power pro three turn lock knot on the end of the yuker taan knot....This prevents slips when you start using heavier flouro...never had it fail and do it every time....Plus i just love to tie a bimini...a bit intimidating at first but its a very tidy knot.....I do 30 turns in 30 to 60 pound braid and 60 turns in 80 pound braid,22 in mono......again,never failed and i have biminis that have been on my reel for a year!  |

Page Ranking knot. You use a bobbin to spin the braid around mono/fluoro leader, jiggers use this knot almost exclusively. Google PR knot and you will see how to tie it. -------------  www.kavemantackle.co.nz

Same here, if less than 6lb, Surgeon knot, above 6lb I use an improved albright (about 9 turns). ------------- Live every day like it's your last and try to regret nothing...... |
