...Just listening to Ch4 on the VHF right now and it appears with power cuts around Whangarei that the Ch4 Repeater has been offline for some time and also the Toots club is without power.
Vessel Seadog is heading in now with a big Striped Marlin but due to the power cut the club cannot weigh the fish

Gutted, I think Seadog is owned by a guy called Glen who I bought my Morgan from. Lock'n Load used to be named Seadog

I feel really sorry for the Toots marina staff... the VHF repeater has not long come back online, but the Toots area has been without power for some time. The poor guy on duty has been running around like a headless chook using a handheld VHF to answer boats queries and do his best.
Alas the JAFAs in the million dollar boats are heading in and still persist on demanding fuel and the restaurant to be open plus the limosine service...
The poor guy is saying; "Vessel calling Tutukaka we are without power and electricity, I repeat without power and...
But yet they still persist, "but are the fuel pumps available...?"
So big ups to the marina staff as most are volunteers

I heard a couple of reports from a few other forum members; Dun Logging, Hooked On Protein and I think possibly Graeme OTDRMAN... they were on Ch4 repeater and quickly went to chit chat Ch6 (ship to ship) so those buggars have a few aces up their sleeves and probably a few fish to boot.

The radio has been reasonably quiet this arvo and it seems many boats are calling in and saying they are doing overtime tonight to still keep working and looking and several are staying overnight at Whangamumu.
However, I just heard a glimpse of a boat hooked up to a stripee and calling his mate for assistance to haul it onboard...but I could not hear the vessels name. So good stuff

Seems the action is still hot off the knights trench... I will keep listening and turn my hearing aid up

...the radio action was that hot that everytime I went outside to do something, I had to coming running back in to the kitchen to hear...hookup...missed the boats name...go back out...fish dropped....hooked up...dropped and so I was running around like a headless chook. And so took the radio with me whilst I smoked some fish
But just going by ALL reports I would say anywhere from Home Pt to Ninepin 140-180m. Some were caught just south of Ninepin and some very close to Queens...but action aplenty

Just had quick chit chat with El Donna.
They are out at Knolls, seen plenty of fish, but 0 from 0 from 0 says Lance, the team is in good spirits, working hard and trying hard, heading back to Toots now.
2moro Lance, good luck mate

General chit chat intel suggest the Knolls is the place to be, 9 or 10 fish today, lots more seen feeding but not interested.
BOI and Whangaroa area has been fairly quiet.
