on wednesday night the genesis got its $3000 fish finder/plotter stolen from the orams haulout yard, nothing unusual about that this was the third boat to get stuff pinched from it this week...

I called the police because i wanted the area around the hole dusted for prints...the NZ police's response..

"sorry we dont have the resources for that kind of thing"

well what the fcuk are the police for then?.

Orams have millions of dollars worth of boats sitting in their area, they also have no security whats so ever, so we cant even get a image of what they were like...

this stinks big time by the Police and  Orams..just remember your dash mounted stuff is not as safe as you might think.

so team, if you know a policeman who is willing to help us out please call 021 862948..cheers

Office (East Tamaki) was burgled on Monday evening, police phoned us for more details Tuesday, finger print squad here first thing Wednesday, no luck but good responce from local South Auckland cops. When the car was done over in Westhaven, cop at the station said they had a back log of 300 "events" to log.  Either South Auckland has better resourcing, or towns a rougher locality. Local business association has a good scheme running with private policing/security and regular meetings/excgange of info with police. Result, 40% drop in break ins for local business. F.T.

Sucks aye Tobes, last year I gave the cops the reg number of a car that had just ripped us off, Nothing has been done about it.

Oh yeah the car wasn't stolen!!!, what else do ya have to do. Go around with a flaming can of petrol and sort out the buggers yourself, nah Ive got better things to do with my time.

Ps, I dont blame the cops

Sorry Tobes, I'll return the gear this morning... Fish finder didn't work to well in my car anyway...

Nah, this sucks! Our police force is a bloody joke! Just a bunch of yobbos who like picking on kids even if they ain't doing jack

They're always under resourced it appears... We got burgled a few years back and they said they couldn't send anyone around for 24 hours and to leave the entry point (lounge window) ajar until then and they would come and dust it for prints. Well, they turned up eventually along with some observer twat in a fancy blue gimp suit.

Orams not having any security, now that's an even bigger joke ain't it. I remember taking a girlfriend for a stroll along the pier one night after having dinner at Swashies and had we been inclined we could have nicked a ton of stuff... Hell, some boats had the keys sitting on the front seat for christ sakes.

I agree there KFS. The amount of $$$ it costs to keep a boat at Orams, you would expect them to have the best system

Move to Kerikeri mate, we had our work broken into, they picked the lock and came in through the door, the door closed behind them and the dumb buggers couldnt open it again. The only thing they took was a hammer which they used to brake open the door to get out again. The cops fingerprinted the whole place as they had not much else to do.

forgot to add they nicked the compass and ripped the hand piece out of the VHF.

I just had a quote to store my boat in Orams over summer to make more use of the evenings.  WIth security like that and an open boat I think my question is answered.

Bad luck Tobes,  do you get to choose the new gear?

     Cheers

Exactly AC...

Wonder how Orams are going to break the news to the owner of the boat??? Surely paying the huge sums of $$$ to store your boat around here, you'd expect some of that money to go towards some type of security. Obviously too greedy!

Does anyone on here work for Orams?

How can a $20 million  facility not have security.  surely the Orams village gates are closed at night or can just anyone stroll on in?

I had my car brioken into just up the rd from a police station and they wouldn't come up and print it. They said it had rained during the night so there was no point. I told them it didn't rain inside my car - they still didn't care!

Mandy, I work next door to Orams. I don't know about access to the new drystack, but the piers are all open and you can stroll in off the street no worries... You could easily have a real stealing spree I would think. I bet if you rang them up and enquired about security they'd say "Haahaahaaa, of course we have security! Do you think we're stupid or something?"

We have a mobile security patrol for our building, but I don't know if they are responsible for the marina area.

they probably do have security....as in a gaurd who checks the premises twice a night or something like that....most companys do......that leaves a long time between drinks for the wanna be gangsters of this world

I would like to say tho that if NO ONE purchased goods they had a suspition about then there would be no point in these losers swiping stuff as they couldnt on sell it...unfortunately theres a market for stolen goods which keeps these guys in bizz. Ppl are funny tho....I had a mate who bought a car stereo which he new was hot " Great price " he bragged to me....then a week later when his car got ripped off he was maoning and groaning about what low lifes they were. Go figure.

Id be more inclined to be pissed at the thief and his customer than the police and orams.

Doesnt change how much it pissies you tho eh tobes....sorry to hear mate

Bad luck Tobes, and the focken silly thing is if you catch the thivies the in act and you give them a kick our something like that, the cops will be around frist thing in the morning to sort you out.

Still I agree with fatso, if there were no buyers there;s no market, hell even insurance cost may come down. ( yer right ).

I also had the boat broken into at coromandle at long bay over the weekend just gone and even there the police did not have time to come down and finger print the boat and considering there has been a swarm of thefts involving gas in the area ,you think they would care.No time

I get calls often on my cell phone asking for $$$ by sargent someone to sponser this booklet or some other thing. I have lost almost all respect for the police and belive that they are almost totally a revenue collecting agency for the government. The last 3 burglarys at work, I havnt even bothered to call them up but have been pulled up for doing 57kms on an easy flowing road where I was just keeping up with trafic. Some Cops are there for the correct reasons but I belive that they are now a minority.

In say all that, I agree with the others when they say, take away the demand and you take away the crime

the silly bitch next door to me rang the cops last saturday cause i told her kids to shut up   ,dont know what she told them but they turned up .thats the second time she done that .

she must have rung the 111# ,thats why you cant get the cops to come and follow up on real crime cause of people like my neighbour  who waste their bloody time

i think they have one at the drystack enterance... a few security monitored signs may act as a deterent and add a sense of security to the place...

Stink One Tobes.

Agree with you all, should have security, and take away the market would both help the situation.

Might have been an inside job.  Someone with access.  An Evil person I guessing.  Hmmmmmm.

Still, hard to believe there's no cctv/video tape eh.  One camera could probably pann those two piers.  Hard to stop some arsewipe coming in on a dinghy though I guess.

Snap fitting/demountable electronics sure makes sense to me.
