Hi all, can anyone recommend any shore fishing spots for snapper at high tide in the Orewa area? Have found some likely spots at low tide but am struggling a bit at the weekends when it's high tide in the mornings / evenings! Thanks

Gromph most of the low water spots fish just as well at high often more so at dusk and dawn. ------------- woman who say they are equal to men ,show lack of Ambition . |

| Thanks One leg - the thing is that I've only tried fishing off the rocks at places like Campbells bay or Mahurangi where they're best accessible at low tide. Thinking that at high tide I'd need to cast a lot further to get past the rocks I'd normally fish off. |

fish come in to feed often where you have walked at low look for shell fish and crabs as you go over at low under the cover of darkness water dosnt have to be deep for fish to come in to feed ,think out side of the square when it comes to fishing ..more so if the place is fished a lot over low ------------- woman who say they are equal to men ,show lack of Ambition . |

| I heard down at the rivermouth by the camping ground is pretty good, 2 hours each side of the tide, never been there my self, but i am willing to give it a shot ;) |

spinning for KY at the mouth or just in side it will get you lots of KY good place for kids to learn fishing also a few crabs there as well . ------------- woman who say they are equal to men ,show lack of Ambition . |

im always concered of somehow getting cut off or soaking etc as the tide comes up to high too.
nearly all my spots i fish outgoing because of this, maybe im missing a trick....

Come on Cal toughen up  sometimes it's all part and parcel of fishing a spot zip lock bags come in too there own in some spots ,but then the reels i use can be washed in salt water One of the reasons i use a small day pack can sit on the frount if needed while fishing and easy to get too.mind you is a bit daunting getting your hooks back from a large ray standing in knee deep water .(Steve Irwin keeps spring to mind) ------------- woman who say they are equal to men ,show lack of Ambition . |

i agree with bas, sure there might be some dodgy spots on an incoming, but mostly on the east coast just keep your wits about you and wade out, knee deep or even a meter of water is no biggie in a sheltered area. chuck a towel in the car ------------- Kei uta ngā ika |
