Hi guys, as a keen nymph tier but dry fly tying virgin im super keen for feedback on my first efforts. they are tied to imitate these fellas - deleatidiums i think, but fatties about size 10!  Anyhow heres the best from my first dozen, medium dun post, brown hackle, z-lon tail, a couple of variations in body materials .... Feedback appreciated on post size, hackle length, any parachute tying tips really.....    cheers Jeremy. |

Very nice neat tie! I can NEVER get my copper wraps that even. Would they be better tied on a straight shanked hook though? As is I'd probably describe them as more of a klinkhammer style emerger. Don't get me wrong, they'll catch you a tonne of fish, but they probably aren't exactly imitating the stage of the insect in the picture. Rather I think they'd be imitating the fly as it was emerging through the surface film. Nice stuff though! |

thanks for the feedback guys! had a few duds before starting to get them looking o.k. fiddliest bits for me are securing the hackle after winding and getting dubbing under/ in front of the hackle before finishing the fly. Tricky to keep hackle out of the way and not getting it trapped under thread wraps. Badger - for sure klink style emerger in dads favourite / deliatidium shades. I like that sunk body style as it gives that floating nymph / struggling dun trapped in the surface effect ( with a bit of luck) |

Very good looking flies! I have just started tying klinkhamers and I really like them. They look good on the water, stay afloat for ages, good all-rounder. You could use a tying thread for the ribbing. Copper wire will add to the weight of the fly, tho on the other hand, some weight in the body will help it pierce the surface film I guess. Nice one.
