My nieghbour,Pete Hutchings  arrived down to the bach for the weekend ,went diving on Friday and came home with a Giant Boarfish .Shot it on the weed line in the shallows at Great Mercury ,also got a feed of scallops which were nice and fat ,but said there were lots and lots of just undersize ones in the Cove .Anyway he passed the fish over the fence as payment for some work I had done on his place ,what an ugly looking character (sorry no pics didn'think) Looks are no indication of taste ,filleted down we had some thick firm creamy white fillets .Dredged in ,Kaffir lime and herbed salt seasoned flour and pan fried in butter they were absolutely delicious ,a very delicate flavour
Would be very easy to overpower this fish and lose the taste alltogether but done simply in was very nice .Go the spearos pity they dont take a hook (I think)otherwise I would target them

Have never seen one and yeah, I don't think they take a hook at all. Sounds like their taste and texture is a bit like John Dory..... ??  If so, they'd be sensational.
