At Papa Aroha  we have plenty of resonably secure parking away from the road and close to our 2 ramps (avoid Xmas/New Year):

(1) A concrete ramp on the ocean beach, sometimes will have metal or sand on a section of it, it is cleaned off almost daily if necessary. A tractor with dual wheels is provided beside the ramp for your use. Needed at low tide as the beach tends to shallow out a bit. Exposed to anything with West in it.

(2) A tidal creek with metal ramp, most boaties use this facility at 2.5 hrs either side of high tide, it is safe to use, as a guide line when the rock at the entrance with the flag and light on it is covered in water its all go. The creek and channel are kept open with regular dredging. this facility gives sheltered and safe launching in all conditions that are suitable for boating. It is a great safety valve if conditions change while at sea because you are able to shelter say in the mussel farm 3 km offshore until enough water is in the creek then safely come home and trailer the boat in calm conditions, which often pleases "her indoors" while she holds the boat without getting beaten up and wet to boot, and you have a chat on the way to get the trailer. The tractor can be used here also if needed, most people us their cars etc.

A good fish cleaning area, and a boat washing area are adjacent to the creek also. Now for the catch, there is a charge payable at the shop from were a base station VHF is operated, and advice/tips, bait, ice, tackle etc can be obtained.

Guests staying in the Holiday Park $3.00  a day ramp fee. If you are a visitor not staying, you are still welcome to use the boat facilities, but it will cost you a bit more, $5.00 a day ramp fee. Weekly and annual rates are available as well as boat storage if required. 7 and up to 8 metre boats use the ramp and creek but more care is needed, 6.5 to 7 metre no problem.
