Hi, I reguarly launch at Bucklands Beach, the (Barracuda) Public Ramp (Any Tide with a jetski at that ramp) Many trips I have been around Rakino to the back of the Noises and frequently to the Maria's along with other trips to the Ahhaas. Realistically on my Yamaha FX HO 160,I would have know problem getting to Gannet, if I found it was worth the trip, usually there is sufficient fishing as close as Motuihe.
Typically most trips out to Maria would only use approx $25 of fuel at about 80 kph give or take sea conditions for fuel consumption, plus it is a hell of a lot of fun the journey there and back, let alone the buzz of jetskifishing.
Keep up the motivation and do not hestitate to PM me when you are ready to kit out your ski, as I am local in East Auckland and can point in the right direction of what are the most practical options for jetskifishing.

The other viable launching ramp that I often use Fishoe, is the Whitford ramp. This may be closer to you than trekking to Bucklands..? It is great if you are shooting out for a fast session around Carsuoe etc and are fishing over the high as the ramp is best 1 hr 40 min either side of the high. Only reason I use it is because its 5 min from my house. When tides etc dont permit I usually launch at Half Moon Bay and occasionally at Bucklands.

I would have to say two trips to the Ahaas and back including moving around fishing the area etc would easily be achieved off one tank of gas. Read through earlier posts in here and you will get some examples of trips we have made and fuel usage etc.

Hey Fishoe, I  go straight out to Motuihe under 10 minutes. Sit in around 7-9 mtrs deep and never came home with an empty chilly bin. This was in the summer though. As a female, I enjoy the PWC fishing, I can go out on my own or with the kids. ( Usually leave the kids at home with the husband!) I come home only after a few hours, and always impress him with the chilly full. I launch it myself and love pulling up at the end when everyone cant believe I am out there let alone the fish in the chilly bin. That feeling is pricelessClap ( I would never take a boat out)
Anyway plenty of spots around and you dont have to go far, I was in Bucklands Beach  by the last yacht before you go out the channel (old run down yacht) and I pulled up a 650 kingi which I put back, I thought I had a sting-ray. This was the first time I took my 5 year old so that was big excitement for him but he was a bit scared to hold the rod after what he saw mine doing!!!LOL
You will love it, just like everyone who has one.
See you soon on the water......... Bring on the warm weather....
