Subject: Boulder's Crack - Wide Open!
Date Posted: 08 May 2008 at 4:42pm
Boulder, Phatso, Squid and I ventured out to the Crack this morning and were greeted by the most insane barrel fishing sessions for both hook-ups and average size I've personally had for a long time.....gannets, dolphins, whales and hungus snappers in attendance!...all very Blue Planet stuff you understand....picture this trendsetters:

Bait fleeing from the water moments before a big ol' Moby crashes their party as squadrons of dive bombers attack the peremeters and Flipper goes 'round the outside all this only meters from the Enki Toa....pure food chain magic!!

Haystacks on top of haystacks.....the fuse is lit!

after an hour or two the bite turned off and all went quite....we like to call this mysterious event the "Burwood Scarecrow Effect" which seemed to follow us around anytime a work up was beggining getting going...Wink....anyhoo....long story short we spent the next few hours chasing the odd sparadic work up here and there then found another patch of hungus ones....Phatso managed to PB himself a very respectable wee number on a Pearl 110mm Squidgie Flick Bait.....

A Phat One and over his left shoulder is Worsel!

"Yeah it's a good one bro!! play it like its a 20lber...HOLLY SHEEEET hommie!!"...about this stage around 13 tonnes of Bryde's Whale surfaced in the middle of a bait ball with Phatso's line wrapped once around it's rudder....pretty exciting times....Squid had the gaff and Japan Airlines on standby but after a short time the line came loose and Willy was free!

anyhoo.....fantatstic day out sniffing around Boulder's Crack (you'll find sick bags in the seat pocket in front of you!).....home and cleaned up by 3pm with plenty of freight (26 in total with an impressive average size plus at least twice that released)....

Thanks you fullas.....mint as day!

PS...beware the "Scarecrow Effect"...it is very strong!! Evil%20Smile

Indeed Kezza another fantastic day at the crack with a great crew. Insane action from the moment we arrived at the same place as the previous day stunning piles of fish on the sounder and the angriest snapper around hitting any sp that was brave enough to sink more than a rew meters down. No chance of a smoke for the first hour or two untill the switch flicked off. Crystal clear water and glass calm meant we could see our fish 15-20 m down as they fought to the top. Great chance to feel the rod and watch the fish and see how the buggers try to avoid comming any higher. Mind you pds peering over the side would make most anything bolt for safetyLOL.

Many many fish were released for another day with a mere 26 booking a ticket home to meet the dinner table but such was the quality of the fish that those 26 filled a 90l icy tec to capasity.
I was impressed with phats new black widow and even his kids rod he had did the business extremly well. Unfortunatly not quite the line strength to stop the whale but at least they triedClap.

many evil jealous "mates" have used ugly four letter word to express them selves in the thread above. How many more would there be if I had posted a report of the day before when we had identical fishing this time with AC Dirty Oar and his brother who flew back to Ireland today after having the best days fishing of his life.
To avoid all the filliting I walked the neighborhood giving away fresh fish which was received very well with comments about me being the most popular person in our streetEmbarrassed
Two days like that in a row is fantastic and reminds me why I love being unemployed Approve

...hey hey, didn't know just how many others were in such close vicinity on the Toa! My humblest of apologies Boulder for using such foul language - mentioning that w word over the airways, I shall make-good and force myself to go out again and repeat the fishing spectacular as Kezza explains. As the eagle flys not that far away, enough of them out there!! My mate Dave couldn't make the early call...  so high tailed it - didn't get as far as you Boulder, bludy Snapper in the way, not monsters today or PBs or but who knows about the onessssss that got away.

Mental budgies.

Come on now you bunch of raging ass bandits….no need for name calling

That was some sick as snapper fishing, especially the morning shot !  Average fish size very nice thankyou.

It was fantastic to finally get out with Boulder on ET after many a turned down offer, or this that or the other thing getting in the way. Great ship, and a very good and considerate skipper Thumbs%20Up

And Kezza and Squid completing the line up, what more can you say. Anyone who has chance too fish with one or both of these boys take it…..good grunts, even if they cant set a drogue LOL

Im still fizzing about the Discovery channel shizzle we saw yesterday
Whales, Dolphins, Budgies and airborn fleeing baitfish is where its at !!!!!!!!

Thank you boys.  I will have another helping anytime please

PS…Squid after downing his 4th Steiny “ Im not really a Steiny drinker “    GAY !  Broken%20Heart

PPS  Snap ended up going 6.7k on my rapala Digi scales. Long but slabby
