A mate of mine bought a portable solar battery charger a couple of weeks ago, had a look at it last nite. He bought it from Repco for about $50. Plugs into a ciggy lighter, or can be wired into your main power feed to the batteries. Produces about .1 amp per hour. Can be unplugged in seconds when you go fishing.

Great for keeping your battery topped up.

So in Taranaki its good for about 4 months a year ?

I saw a cheapo version in the warehouse for about $20, dont know if it was suited for marine use but plugged into ciggy lighter also. Handy if your not a night fisherman.
