Seeing Jimijigs painted up black jigs that chris posted I was keen on having a go.
 
After several nights of boredom combined with alcohol here is what we have come up with

Mate that Benthos with the X's on it looks the bizzo. Rigged with a Dora assist I'm sure it will prove to much for any kingi to refuse LOL

Whats the theroy here fellas?? Mozz, Jimi?? Had any luck working with th e darker jig's?? Got white island trip on 3 weeks so need something to show the boyz up!! Worth going any bigger than 500 gm or just to much work??

Yep, recommend heavy jigs 500g and over if you can get them!  You need heavier jigs to get down quickly especially if there is a bit of wind dift or tide.  The Bluenose are down at least 250m.   Don't have to work these jigs too hard because at those depths you will be targetting Puka and Bluenose and they both require a slower jig near the bottom.
 
 
this is a Zest Deep Slim 470g jig.
