Like most, my kingy jigging is somewhere between 110 and 30m, but on occasion when hapuka fishing out of Tauranga, I have seen some good sized kingfish come up.

Are these just anomalies, or can they be viably targeted at over say 150-250m?

If so, which time of the year provides the best 'deep' kingfish jigging?

Benk.   Have also found kingies around Mayor Is in the deep while chasing puka. Mainly fish 200-250m pins and plateaus and NOW is the time of the year that we normally get them deep.
Never bothered on jigs before but with the new knife jigs 500-600g , i might give it a go.
Top time for puka on our spots too, just waiting for the next window.
Cheers Kevin
