Hey guys I am after some info on this rod: Penn Powerstick PS1402, 2 piece, rated 8-15kg, approx 14 feet long.

I have owned one of these puppies for the past 4 or so years and it was my most favourite rod for using on the bricks and also surfcasting, so powerful, was a joy to beholdWink. Alas I clean snapped the top foot or so off while it was on my yak at kings of the coro CryCryCry

I am keen as mustard to either buy another of these rods or get a new top half for it. Trouble is I can find no mention of this rod on either the Penn NZ or Penn USA websites... Confused

Can anyone suggest what the best move now would be? Im guessing call up Penn and see what they say. I wonder if they would manufacture me a one-off top section for my rod if I asked. I'm not too worreid about the cost, i just wan to get my rod back in action.

cheers for any help
Boz

Boz, the rod would almost certainly have been superceded by now. Howver, if you phone Chris at Thomspon Walker, 09 274 7740 I'm sure he can give you ideas on a replacement.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=103016325 - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=103016325  This was the link to his auction.Think it has finished now but PM him.. Its made by pioneer i think Chris W was bringing them in ,they are a high carbon content popping rod ,2 piece (butt join) its only 8foot 3inches so not good for surf casting but is way good for rock fishing, they are very light & slim but are rated 30-50lb and have fuji sic guides so you can braid it if you want.Get a spare spool for the baitrunner and load it with 80lb braid and fight some kings with it thats what i do with mine.

oh yes they do too, thanks mouthu. although it looks like they have the 3 piece rather than the 2 piece.
hmm I might call them and see exactly what they have and what they can order in.
not a big fan of fishcity though.

just checked the WS Laurie website and they have the 2-piece variety listed there, perhaps they are still in production? May well be able to order in a top half if thats the case...

Think most Penn powersticks that are 14ft come in 3 piece these days got mine from Rebel sport on sale for $80-$100 i think....
Don't think the are as strong as those old work horses you had though.......

Think they would be the PS1403 model, WS Lauries has the PS1402 model which is the 2-piece.
