G'day,

I've fished all my life on the East Coast of Auckland, and now a Westie thought I'd try the big muddy out.

Closest to me in Titirangi is French Bay boat ramp or off Cornwallis beach. My Sea Nymphy 14'6 is not a overly heavy beast, but still no liteweight. She's towed by a Nissan 4wd so getting in and out of water isn't a problem.

I'd just like some advise on best places to launch and what time of tide I should launch at?

Any places to go to for fish would also be appreciated this time of year? Wink

Sand bars and murky water never have appealled to me, so having some advise from Manukau experts would be awesome! Wink

hi, I'm at Wood bay and usually go to cornwallis to launch.
Avoid 2 hrs either side of low tide at Cornwallis.  2 hrs either side of high is good to launch at at French bay. You can also launch at low but have to drive 300mtrs up the beach to find a good gradient. Hope this is of some help. Others may say different but this is what I go by. Cheers Stefan

Never launched at cornwallis have you thought about jenkins bay thats in titirangi, i used to launch a 16ft tinny there on most tides heaps better than french bay thats place is shallow.. jenkins is two hours either side of low but can be a little difficult if the winds blowing straight in there, cornwallis would be better i spose in a southwester..bit of a drive though..

At French Bay they do keep a track clear through the oysters so you can launch at low tide, but its long and narrow and if someone is having trouble loading or unloading there can be a bit if a delay. I did witness some very heated moments down there one evening a couple of months ago. But it does save twenty mins drive each way to Cornwallis.
