anything IS possible ...

people generally dont fish with anything lighter than 15 off the rocks when kingi hunting, you dont want to messing around when you finally do hook one.

To right, would depend on size of the fish, skill of the angler, type of spot you're fishing, size of bait, size hook, maybe a bit of luck and much more.

But if you're not chaseing records or 'stunt fishing'  and just wanna catch a few I'd recomend 15kg as a minimum for all round situations.

anything is possible . . after all this is fishing were talking about and one of the things i, and i assume most others, love about this game is there are no "rules".

With kings in my own experiences, i have been smoked, dusted and well and truely beaten up on 15 kg numerous times of rocks and boats. How many guys have been smoked on 24kg? and not only off rocks but  in deep water and done a gazillion miles an hour into a reefShocked without even a hint of relenting. .. geez Kings are a great fish eh!!!!!

Lightest i would consider off the rocks is 6kg and i would want to be on a headland or point that drops into 20m + sandy bottom . .  and for the fish to have read the script.Big%20smile

Like i said there aint no rules and what ever line weight you choose, be commited, come up with a cunning plan. Find the spot and make it happen!

And be sure to post an in depth report when you do.

Go gettem champ!!

Yeah would depend on the territory.

I've landed a 12kg one on 8kg as its all i had when i saw it in the burley and it took a live piper that had been in the water all of 30seconds.

But then you can always catch rats on light line. Have caught one on a 3kg bait rig and another on 4kg braid SP setup both off the rocks. Neither being that close to legal size tho!

dude I wouldnt go under 15k unless you're pretty good and have a fair bit of luck. there's some big kings around those parts...

It may be deep but its still pretty rugged down there. Would be doing well to land a decent king on anything less than 10kg i reckon

Stick to using heavy gear bro give yourself more chance, if you caught kingies everyday every time you went, then muck around but I would'nt their a bit to valueble to be have swimming around lagging traces and hooks.
