It’s sure been  a very long time since I’ve used this forum, but I feel as I am coming back to fishing, I should re-engage, and what better way to start than a fun community game!

To make it VERY clear, I am not going to become an eco terrorist and introduce all the fish!

Rules:

You get 12 points, and each point can be used to either introduce a new species, add a new behaviour (eg searun or new subspecies) or increase distribution or size, all costing 1 point

All fish MUST be freshwater, and ideally put a description on why you picked this fish and where it would be present 

As well as these, it should be noted that this likely wouldn’t be effective as most species would fail to become established, and if they did they would probably reek havoc on our native ecosystems, so this is just a fun experiment

Costal Cuththorat Trout-A nice addition to our fisherys, adding a new rarer species into rivers with already existing trout and creating the possibility of even rarer cutbows without having to waste a point!

Lahontan Cuththorat Trout-The biggest trout in the Tekapo canals, getting over 80lb on the regular!

Coho Salmon-A hard fighter to add an additional species to the salmon run (I’m assuming they sea run on this point, if they don’t then I would use it on something else)

Chum Salmon-MAYBE, I really don’t know about this one as from what I heard they aren’t particularly liked, alternative is Marbled trout (a relative of the brown trout)

Pink Salmon-Another species to add to the variety in the salmon run!

Chinook salmon-Increase in numbers and wider distribution including many North Island rivers 

Sea run sockey salmon-Obviously

Sea run Atlantic Salmon-Not sure how to count this, technically it’s very possible we still have them in the wild, doesnt really matter though as it still costs 1 point

Steelhead-Jumbo trout here we come!

Arctic Char-A trophy fishery for our far south rivers

Dolly Varden-Another great fish to add for their impressive size and hard fights

Lake trout-Introduction to our large lakes because that was always intended 

I’ll also make a second list for coarse fish as I got a bit carried away on this one

Orfe-I’m not sure what role they would play but it would sure be cool

Bream-Basically an Orfe copy

Shiner-I’m not sure the exact species but we need a food source for all these predators

Blue Catfish-it would be cool

Northern Pike-Present in varying medium-large water bodys as an apex predator 

Chain Pickerel-For smaller bodies like lake pupuke 

Muskie-Pike on steroids, for the lower Waikato and Lake Waikare 

Smallmouth Bass-For our smaller northern water bodies without trout 

Largemouth Bass-Bass. For our northern lakes without trout

Walleye-Another cool predator 

Goliath Tigerfish-Have heard of these being wanted on the forum before, and admittedly they’d be cool

Barramundi-Also heard of these spoken of before here
