Background: I needed to get a left hand bait caster reel for my grandson. Did the e-tour of the local tackle shops - not much available - and fortuitously saw one advertised on Marketplace. Went to go and collect it today from the seller (Alex) and after a few chats discovered that he was a member of the site: Loryder is his handle. Did a bit of reminiscing and left before the heavens opened up. Alex: thanks for the sale and the reel is in excellent condition. ------------- You can never have enough fishing tackle |

decent lefty baitcaster are rare. Sold my Shimano Curado’s but bought a Daiwa Lexa300….not used much My go to is a Calcutta 201 with an aftermarket handle, no,paddles. I also have a Tica Caiman, drag serviced by Reel Repair Guy aka Swordfish Steve that landed a 20 lb Snapper on 10 lb braid. Buttery smooth drag.

Agree, very little on the market both new and used. Alex parted with a virtually brand new Okuma Ceymar - in great condition and filled with braid. Have left it with paddle handles for now. Have to wait for some clear weather to do a field test :) ------------- You can never have enough fishing tackle |

Small world indeed. I caught up with Jamie yesterday and he mentioned you Smudge. I instantly remembered the handle, and although I'm sure we spoke online don't think we ever met. Was also lovely to meet you Sufishant. Much good juju your way for the young fella and that reel. Speaking of small worlds, I also recently met KeenAs at mate Wills tackle shop in Silverdale and got to yarning about all the old farts on here. Tobez, Damo, Ski, DirtyOar, Mozza, Tiny, Canadian John, BeachedAsBro.. as a young fella 22 years ago finding this forum it was a wealth of knowledge for me and really helped form the person I became. I still fish predominantly lures left handed because of Tiny. I got well into 4wding because of Ski. I love fishing Horn Rock because of Damo, and I aspire to have the nose for fish like Tobey. All small encounters that added up to a well formed passion I have kept with me into my 40s. Back into it now fishing out of Gulf Harbor. 104 keepers landed last year on my boat. 55 so far in Jan this year. Ramping it up. 1500 liters of gas in the last 14 months with 80hrs on the clock of the new motor. Much love to you all. Wow, that's pretty impressive Alex. Long ago I learnt that the best way to advance your fishing knowledge was to fish with as many people as you can. That's a pretty impressive list of legends to have fished with and I've had the pleasure of fishing with many of them plus many more from these forums. Nope, I said to Jamie I don't think we've ever met but this forum taught me so much. I even remember my first post way back in 1998. There are some that just have a natural talent and while I was keen I don't consider myself as in that circle but yeah, I've learn't a thing or two over the years.  ------------- Best gurnard fisherman in my street |

Hi CJ, I haven't logged on to the forum in years, and then when I did, one of the first posts I saw was this one. I bought a rod and reel from you in Howick years (and years) ago. If you're still out East, I'm looking for fishing buddies if you're getting back into it. Cheers, John |
