Hey there guys, I’m looking at getting a new landbased topwater setup, I’ll be flicking lures 80g all the way to around 160g ish. Mainly targeting Kingies Tuna and Gt in the future. I’m tossing up either the Saltiga 14000XH or the Saltiga 18000H paired with the Daiwa Dragger break through 9’3. What do you guys recommend?

Tough one. I'd say for 95% of fish the 14000 will be fine and is 200g lighter which will make a difference when you're hucking casts all day. But for Tuna and GTs you probably want the big reel in case you snag a monster.

What line weight are you wanting to run? PE8 or PE10?

I have a shimano Stella 14k with PE8 that I use for topwater kingfish here in NZ and its perfect, almost overkill.

I took the same setup with me to Oman targeting GT and Yellowfin, It was up to the task for the moderate GT and also for yellowfin tuna up to 60/70kg. If you are going to be targeting tuna regularly and are likely to run into 100kg plus models or running PE10 you'll probably want the larger reel for more line capacity. Drag wise unless you want to go for a swim you won't be using anywhere near the max drag for either of the reels.
