Hi there,

I recently started fishing again after many years.
Have hooked my daughter onto fishing and she really enjoys it . The first time we went down Tamaki drive by the little bridge. She hooked a nice snapper, My daughter 23 absolutely loves fishing now... Id say catching a snapper on her first cast did it, not to mention fishing with her dad Big smile. been out several times in the last 4 months without any success. Tried both bridges, both sides,  Orakei marina, ,  okahu bay  Have even tried night fish, Dawn fish an nothing! I'm obviously out of touch with the times..
Please can anyone help with advice on: good fishing spots.. Tamaki Dve to Maraetai Auckland

Thanks

M

Hi Mike

It is a difficult time of the year to catch fish, especially in such a populated place. Landbased fishing is certainly challenging but as you have found out it can be very rewarding also. Squid fishing at night around Auckland's waterfront can be productiveIt's certainly specialised but loads of fun.

Mackerel & squid would be the best targets there I would think. For squid you want to be fishing within the weed line rather than right at the end.
