Hi there, I'm not new to soft baiting but only very used relatively heavy setups, I want to try switch it to some lighter setups for things like kahawai, little pinkies, gurnards and slimy Mackie's. I'm planning on using jig heads from around 1/4 to 3/8ounce and little 2.5 inch plastics maybe some 4 inch jerk shads as well. I've never owned a light combo and was wondering whether anyone knew a combo that's really good for my needs. My budget is around 200 - 300 NZD however it can go higher not really that tight of a budget.

Fuji guides and reel seat, 7 bearings good buying for the money. I’ve got one of the reels and caught some big fish on it with no issues.

I would go for a decent rod.
Something like a medium Shimano Zodias, something with a crisp action.
You want to be able to control your softbait but also feel when the fish takes it.

I've had several lower end rods and I find they are too sloppy when casting.  Especially when I am trying to pinpoint a jighead near a salmon cage.
