On Friday I was crewing on Hibiscus Rescue 2 aka HIB2 (the units Sealegs based in the shed at Stanmore Bay).

Pretty uneventful day out (which is good) but it was interesting seeing where the birds were. We went from Stanmore Bay to Army Bay and Wellington Reef first - loads of birds along the northern side of the peninsula. Then we went to Hatfields Beach, further up to Kawau and then back down close ish to the coast and back to Stanmore Bay. No birds seen until we got to off Red Beach.

So I think I’ll stay close to the peninsula when I put my own boat in the water tomorrow

Went out for a quick couple of hours at lunchtime on Monday. Not much sign off Stanmore Bay so we headed to Wellington Reef.  The channel between the reef and the awash rocks was full of small snapper so we moved to the northern side of the reef, caught a couple of 45cm pannies and came home.

I enjoy living within 5 minutes of the beach and easy launching in most conditions as it makes these sort of quick trips easier.
