Hi people i have a question about older Mac boats built before year 2000, ive read a few earlier threads on the forum here about it
where i saw pictures of a hull cracked and boat submersed ,made me second guess my thoughts on them
I realize all boats can have there problems and its probably happened to aluminium and fibreglass boats before aswell.
Im just wondering if its a good idea buying a 1998 Mac 420 fisherman boat being that it's older and could of been left in the sun and not garaged ,and the uv maybe breaking down the plastic and making it weaker?
Been told that the boats transom has been reinforced and it has a outboard support when on the trailer to stop it bouncing around.
I'm a bit unsure and weary about it now after seeing those pictures on this site .The older ones aren't foam filled, I wonder if it's something that could be done later with expanding foam?
Has anyone got a pre 2000 Mac?
Do they still feel like a solid safe boat?

Appreciate any advice and opinions from anyone, whether good or bad..cherz

my first 420 was one of the first foam
filled ones. i think from memory they started in 2003? but yeah you could all foam. or other types of buoyancy.

its a big decision.
they are definitely a safe boat.

have you got any pics of the boat in question? they had several different engine pod setups. makes a difference to how the weight was distributed.
