Hey all,

Im currently in the process of planning a trip where im wanting to set off on my paddle board to a small off shore reef / rock to softball for snapper and put a live bait out for a kingy if one happens to show Ive come from wellington where I caught moki my whole life so any ideas as to the type of area where I would look to start planning this trip would be greatly appreciated.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps,
simplelandman

Honestly, you could achieve that anywhere on the coast at the moment, but in general, the further north you go, the better the fishing. Maybe skip the Bay of Islands as it gets so busy. Tutukaka Coast would be a good place to start. Ōakura is another cool spot. It's absolutely firing as long as the weather behaves. Everyone seems to be catching big trevally at the moment, so keep an eye open for them.
