Any one had any experience with or advice on some of the cheap ones on the market? E.G. Lucky etc. etc. around $100?
Budget is not there for anything more & I'm not expecting much. Just thinking to use with the paddleboard, and in prob 5-10m maybe up to 15m deep out off the beach at Papamoa. Just wondering whether they'd likely give a ping if I do happen over a fish or two and I could then concentrate efforts in that area?
Reckon they'd help & be better than nothing, or should I keep my only spare $hundy for tackle, softbaits, microjigs and beersies?

I would save your money although I haven't had personal experience with those cheap portable ones. I just know over the last 20 years I haven't seen any kayak fishermen using them over a fixed unit.

I was looking to kit out my paddle board for fishing years ago, you would be surprised how long a small fish finder will keep going on a small battery, I would use one of the battery jump packs and I was going to strap it chilly bin onto the board, screw the fish finder on to the side of the bin and then screw another small plastic sealed container into the other side for the battery.
