Cry

I'm a country girl living in America. I have traveled to Auckland, New Zealand twice; spent a month each time. I was planning to return in 2024. I have been searching for my friend Graig "Ginger" Gibbs only to find out he passed away in 2007.  All the information I presently have is no longer in service. Then, I searched the internet and came across the boat race with the Swashbuckler. I also discovered Ginger's mother has passed in 2019. She was a lovely lady. I am looking for more information from someone who knew him. I have tried to contact one of his brothers but can't seem to find any of them though the internet.  I also tried to contact the former crew of the Swashbuckler Is there anyone here who can help me? I still can't believe he's gone.

I learned how to fish for John Dorian with Ginger several times when I was visiting.  We also set crab cages out for breakfast meals. We mostly caught lobsters, yum, yum.

I would appreciate any information available. This was a real shock to me as he was larger than life, strong and healthy. Yes, he was daring and unruly like a pirate. He was too young to die.

Your very truly,

Terry Lyn

Hi Terry, I didn't know Ginger personally but had lunch nearly every Friday from 2001-2007 at Swashbucklers and he was often there. He would say hello to most patrons as he passed and he kept an eagle eye on the meals being served making sure the portions and quality was up to his high standard. Swashbucklers was known for excellent seafood and was a meeting place for all sorts of people.
Rumour has it that Ginger went the way most blokes hope to go. Sorry for your loss. Regards Dean

Thank you Smudge.

I was shocked when I discovered that he passed away. He was so young, healthy and a dare devil but he always treated me like a lady.
I would appreciate all the information I can get.
