In the absence of festive scallops, my son and I harvested some cockles. I'm leaving them in 6L saltwater overnight to get rid of the sand, but wondered whether it was best to leave the bucket in the fridge at air temperature as it's pretty warm at the moment? That said, the water where they were collected was very warm.

I leave mine in the shade with a wet sack over the top, let them spit some sand out.

Quick stream then into a light beer batter, cockle fritters yum.

What Kandrew said. Overnight is enough. They will die if you put them in the fridge. Have done it many times
