There are some white powders around the power head of a Tohatsu. Is it normal? Some of the paint starts to chip away.

No, not normal. I'll take it off your hands (the motor, not the meth).
Seriously - looking for a used but not too old 30hp short leg tiller. Keep an eye out for me

my guess, the white powder may be oxidation of some aluminium parts?

Looks very normal - every couple of months spray some mX5 INOX  or similar over the bits under your cover.

Thanks. A few Merc also have that, and the mechanics said it is fine too.
