Hey guys

Just started fishing firth of Thames in the last 6 months, couple weeks ago I got caught out with the weather. Metservice and predict wind said 5-10 knots but when I left kawakawa bay and headed out the swells were huge and white caps everywhere. Wanting to know what conditions are best for fishing the firth so I don’t get caught out again. Wind direction etc

Thanks

Keep in mind tide current direction, espec up off the islands and change tide.
Tide against even light breeze can go from dead flat to bit nasty in 20 mins.
And keep in mind lea of land and the distance yo get from that lea.

I use swell map  the maps not the charts...gives far better localised conditions due to smaller tiles.
