Question. Is there a daily limit on how many piper and mackerel or bait fish you can catch as your main catch? No trevally nor snapper or other limit fish included.

There is a limit on what is called 'finfish'. It's a silly thing to call them. Finfish comprise of kahawai, trevally, gurnard etc but they are prescribed fish. To answer your question piper and mackerel have no size nor number limit but they do have minimum mesh sizes for nets used to catch them.

Go download the MPI fisheries app on phone/ tab
Covers bag limits , species, netting , pots.. pics fish species
Its up to date info on reg NZ wide from the horses mouth.
