Having a personal locator beacon regularly tested on the tested button. And discovered battery getting flat after 5 years. Is it worth replacing battery and getting serviced. Or up grading plb to a new model. As i was quoted half the price of a new one. For a service

Yes, i upgraded rather than a new battery, better option I think . I replaced with ARC,Your call.

If it's fitted with a GPS (many of the early one weren't) a new one isn't going to do anything more than what you've got..
