If you thought the Fishing.net.nz admin team had just been lolling about and drinking beer through this latest lockdown then that's not quite how it's been!
There's a new site design about to go live and that includes a new look, theme, updated servers and a major revamp of content that will be an ongoing project over the next few months.
The plan is to switch tomorrow 23/09/21 starting around 10am and while we switch servers and the Tin Soldier team do all that heavy lifting, the site will be off-line for an hour or two. That may change between now and then but that's the plan....
Our top priority will be to keep the forums running and we're really looking forward to going live with the next iteration of NZ's top online rec fishing resource.
As always, we'll look forward to your ongoing feedback, thoughts and comments on what we can do to make it better either through the forums, via PM or to me personally -> [email protected]

That's great news Grunta! I just sent a pm to Mattoo telling him this was about to happen - literally a minute ago.
Guys please don't confuse the Admin team with the Mod team. I have been lolling around drinking beer.OK, I'll fess up. I am lolling around drinking beer.

Thanks to both the Admin and Mods Teams.
For the Log-in issue previously reported I have solved that (Thanks Grunta) by switching to MS Bing rather than Chrome. Haven't been 'dumped' since doing that.
Like Smudge - I'm lolling lazily and secretly slurping suds surreptitiously.
No chance of wetting a line this side of summer but am enjoying reading of those outside AKL who can manage to snaffle a snapper. - Tight Lines!

Hmmm now grumpy.. I would really like to delete a few of my uploads...
The
pics of a weather map 5yrs ago that has no meaning anymore ..keep the
techy, meaningful stuff .. which tends to get used again... With so many 'rubbish ones ... and where accidentally loaded again .. cause didn't find it as was mixed in with all the crap. Or just give Admin the list to delete?
Oh and the same old smilies .. no new ones
These are some off my phpbb2 forum web site.. Its easy to add them, the hard part is resizing the pop up window that has them all.. maybe not now in this format.

Hi.
No problems logging in. However, every now and then when I open a topic it is elongated and the reply box is at the top right. See below. Is it something I have done or a random bug? Have tried pasting a screenshot here, shows it in the reply box, however when I update post it is not there. Took a picture and posted it. Cheers.

Same - with the elongation thing.
Plus I had a recurrence of the Log-in > You are not Logged-in > Log-out> Re-Log-in thing.
MS Bing this time.
A couple of more things -
Not that I use it but - The "Most Thanked Forum Posts" list on the Right - The numbers are very small.
There used to be a showing of the thread 'string' at the top of each thread so you could see the Forum category and click to go back into sub-headings easily. - Not there now.
Makes it clumsy to find your way back into the Forum.
And there are some, what look like 'layout lines' through the Text Editor buttons in the Reply panel.
2c.
Otherwise nice and clean and bright.

Mobile/Classic switch on chrome now working, can't say I am enamoured with the screen layout of either with the new really large fonts in use. Mind you never liked/used the mobile view previously either always used classic but headings are is now quite jumbled even on my phone with 6 inch screen (Pixel 3XL)

I would like the drop down menus gone, they just get in the way of regular forum use.
The old forum was a real pain...I mentioned way back seemed better then MB brought up again... I realised I tend to drag the mouse down over the Gallery mostly now... so its just banner size. The forum "News' and "destination" are also 'banner' size so ok. The others just too big I dont know why these are activated by a drag mouse over and not opened when click on?
It is a cool feature, when applied in appropriate places.

Hi Grant, Looks crisp, and clean. Great with no ads on right hand side. Sure they will come back on the left where they aren't accidentally triggered by right hand users. Seem ok on iPad.
Quick reply box didn't give me access. Used post reply which normall posts and gave me access.
More time will lead us to all those nuances of operation over time.

I agree the whole right column.. thanked list, ads lower down.... could be 1/2 the width. Giving far improved "real end user " ease of use...
Side note: everything also works on old versions of FF on 32 bit XP machine. Thu Chrome is ok till go to replay and the whole smiles opens up reply box small to one side , options bar goes to one side.. The old XP internet explorer doesnt work at all...doesnt on hardly anything now. Note these are rather old obsolete OS and browser versions....
99.9% of my internet, mail , forums, browsers, messenger, fb BS etc is all done on desktop.. phones, pads just used for other stuff. Just easier , more convenient, Which means less time on the net more time actually doing real stuff... and real stuff without interruptions
