A nice couple of days spent fishing Tongariro Delta in boat as well as a very solid productive session fly fishing the nymph in the lower Tongariro.
The Tongariro delta was fishing quite slow but it is a favourite place to be for me - the views behind to the mountains and wide open lake vista in front of you makes it special. Caught fish on Boobies flies and glo bugs here - including one very solid 2.5kg Rainbow as fat as .
In the river had a ball fishing a grey bomb / otters egg combo - in fact all 7 fish in 2 hours were caught on this bomb - a mixture of dark to semi dark jacks to fresh silver jacks and a couple of Hens - the silver jacks were in great nick and orange fleshed that smoked up well. Released a few too of course.
Our North Shore fly fishing  club was down for a few days and pretty much all reported very good fishing at times.
As usual stayed at Tongariro river motel - Ross and Pip great to stay with and know how to look after fisherman.
