Hi guys, going on a trip up around the east cape  in November. Taking two 11 year olds with us, gonna do some kayak and land-based, but are there any charters up around those ways for kings/snapper?, not looking to take the little fellas out to the Ranfurlies, but maybe Waihau/Lottin?
  Any advice appreciated. Chur

There is this little isolated bay, basic camping ground , great management. 
Absolutely the best bit coastline both ways for kayak, small boat, reefs etc and excellent swimming.

We where even throwing soft baits from shore on SB rods, catching nice KY. And at the west end there is a private charter boat.. just walk to the end of the beach past the local steam swimming hole
 Has a name something like Marahako.
