I'm planning to do some surfcasting from Papamoa Beach and I'm just wondering what tide is the best for some night fishing off the beach? I've heard dead low tide is the best because you can get your line out further into the ocean compared to higher tides. What has been your guys experiences? |

Okay thanks very much. Since I'm not a very experienced surf caster I was torn between what tides to go on. |

 That was September last year surfcasting off Papamoa beach. Anchovies and pillys for bait. |

Okay I couldn't decide whether to go surf casting tomorrow night or not but now this photo has convinced me to go out. I've got my salted anchovies, I just need to tie up some running rigs. That is a very inspiring photo. That's going to be me tomorrow. Big bucket of snapper.  May be I should just try to land one snapper first. |

I'll be at Papamoa Beach at 8:30PM tomorrow fishing the outgoing tide. It's been months since I've got a line wet. I didn't think outgoing tide was ideal but then again I'm no expert. I hope the weather holds for tomorrow.

You can't really just generalise that. For instance I often struggle fishing the days around a full moon in our local harbour. The high tide of a full moon where I live is around midday. I usually do very well from low tide until dark in the summer on those full moons. Things aren't always as clear cut as you may imagine ------------- Best gurnard fisherman in my street |
