So all i wanted was a tsmIII(speedmaster III) really bad. Couldnt find one to save my life here in nz. Being a big fan of the tsm's and tld stars and seeing little difference between the two, I thought that maybe i could make one. So having been given a worn out tldstar 20/40 off a charter boat i set about trying to find a frame, eventually following a hunch that the old gt series was the same, and duly purchased a cheap gtIII. So then set about trying to find a tsmIV cheap enough to rip the gears out of. Cue several months later, i finally won a auction for a tsmIVfs which i didnt really want as i dont think the gears are as nicely cut as the tsmIV, but to which turned out to have very little wear on them so happy enough. Then shortly after a handle for a calcutta popped up, and as the tld's handle had been put onto one of my other speedmasters, which had an after market handle that put the reel out of balance, and both the gtIII and tsmIVfs handles had corrosion issues. was duly purchased. A few days ago i finally lined up the three reels on the bench and set to. End result was GTIII frame, spool, drive shaft, yolk, dog gear, springs and dog Tld star 20/40 left(including clicker assembly) and right side plates, clutch cam. cam lever, and plate, plus bellevues, star etc. TsmIVfs main gear, pinion gear and drag plates.
Then because i had them Hybrid ceramic spool bearings left and right Plus carbontex drag washers.
And Voila i had it
PICS to come
