Hi Guys and Girls

Recently i have caught a few Porae and was wondering if i am required to bleed , terminate, fillet in anytime span etc ...

i have had a few people tell me i must fillet immediately to help with the taste when cooking ....

any pointers on best practice are greatly appriciated :)

Cheers

Don't know specifically. Not sure they are great eating. But general rule of thumb would be same for all fish - delicate flesh and spoils easily.
Chill ASAP - like when you land them. Gut them at same time or ASAP after.

Never tried them, but I believe you should gut them and scrub cavity out to get rid of the black liner.

A few years ago now I caught them quite regularly out of Tutukaka on slow jigs, but haven't caught one for a while. Breaded and fried, I think you'd struggle telling it apart from snapper. I've also heard about avoiding the black line under the spine.
