OLD SCHOOL SHIMANO OCEA JIGGERS....For those thinking of getting into jigging/live baiting for kings and other big nasties of the deep......It would be hard to go past this old classic......yes there are lighter reels with dual drags but if i had to use  a reel where my life depended on it...id use the ocea jigger 4000P or 5000P...These reels shot to fame when chris wong brought jigging to nz and were seen on the DVD "Heavy metal" where a lot of the footage was shot at Ranfurly and white island........with the cals drag up grade/carbontex washers you have a pure and smooth drag.....more than enough to deal with most fish and surprisingly nice to live bait with......back in the day my 5000P was over 900 dollars and the 4000P....wasnt much less and that was with standard drag set up....the carbontex washers and cals drag plate take this reel to another level.......The motto for this reel is ....."come on then and again"........They are still around ,although the 5000P is a rarity for sure.
These reels have stood the test of time and can be picked up at very reasonable prices and some are near mint too......just get em serviced once in a while and they will last for ever....Shimano(made in Japan/very hard to beat)......great reel for an entry level jigger/live baiter, who cant afford big bucks but wants a reel they can trust when the going gets tough.Wink
