Always wanted to put a squid jig on a dropper rig. There doesnt seem to be many barracouta around at the moment so no jig-losing issues there. Anyone had luck with this?

Yes I have had some success over foul in 40-50m, mainly Arrow squid.

I want to give this a try too. A while back we were on what is usually a quite good Tarakihi spot and the sounder was showing a massive ball of sign in about 50-80m depth. Expecting instant multiple hookups of Terrys we were kinda surprised to hook nothing at all, until one of the boys hooked up on a squid (I think a fairly large arrow squid?)

In the future I'll try plopping down a squid jig on one of the droppers. Wonder if you could rig one heavy enough to run on a slow-jig setup in those depths?

Not bad, not quite as nice as the broadfin squid we catch in the shallows though. They vary in size but can get quite large, although my biggest arrow is still well under a kilo.
