Hi all,

I've got a Simrad nss12 Evo2 that has pretty much died on me, can't boot up or hard reset past the Simrad logo (see pic), Simrad support has been basically useless and have just told me to take it to the nearest burnsco, it came with the boat so I have no idea how old it is or whether I can get any sort of discount from Simrad for replacement.

But the first thing I need to do is remove it, just wondering if anyone knows how to do that? the outer mounting bracket seems to be stuck on with adhesive tape, does the unit have screws holding it on or do you have to muck around trying to scrape away at the adhesive tape to get it off?

Appreciate any advice from the experienced before I start hacking at it :)

The silver strips top and bottom of the unit should slide across a little bit and then pull off. There should be 4 small Phillips screws under each cover. After that the unit should pull out so you can unplug the screen.

Have you tried updating it with an SD card? Probably best to leave it to the experts if they have asked you to send it in. I have heard from others that simrad customer support is normally pretty good.

Brilliant thanks for the info, I was wondering if there were some screws around that trim somewhere!

Yeah I work in IT so have done all the usual techy stuff, booting without cards, hard-resetting, trying to get the latest firmware to kick off etc etc, I'm pretty sure the unit will need replacing but the next step is taking it in so off she goes.
