Great weekend to be out on the water! Couple of potential pins caught yesterday onboard No Mischief and Major Tom II. Ashley onboard Major Tom II weighed in a 12kg Yellowfin Tuna closely followed by Nathan's 14kg 30 mins later onboard No Mischief (pictured). Baz onboard No Mischief also weighed in a 20.65kg SB Spearfish... things are looking good for the Icebreaker Tournament on 27 & 28 December

Awesome fish, it is very early in the season and there has already been a number of blacks hooked and lost and seen plus this one landed. A big one was lost between Mayor and Whangamata after 4.5 hrs, another smaller one was lost at Cobra Rock by some guys chasing kingys hooked on a livey with 80lb trace which eventually wore through, plus there have been some seen at Mayor Island by guys chasing kingys. With the number of small yellowfin about this is the season to be trolling liveys in around the reef systems targeting a big black.
Salty 69 - yes they did back in 2001, right at the Hole In The Rock - 406kg on a live Skippy.

What a mighty fish. I have to say I feel sorry for him ending his life hanging upside down off a gantry while people celebrate.

The Rowe family have been busy again after yesterday's blue marlin... Well done Charlie - a great 30 minute stand up to get this yellowfin tuna. Weighing later today in Paihia - this is a NZ small-fry claim on 8kg line. Great work team Chopper!
