Took the daughter and a friend out to Karapiro for a quick fish on the boat to get outside on a nice day.

Now that the water has cooled down to about 14 degrees the weed is starting to retreat and the fish are a bit easier to get to, although they are still holding deep during the middle of the day.

Had a hit from something big but it managed to shake the hook out, then 10 minutes further upstream took this 5.5lb brown in about 15m using a savage 3D softbait on the downrigger. Was a decent scrap on a light rod and line with some big runs before we managed to boat it.

Smiles say it all.......

Pretty underrated fishery in my opinion
