Ive had back problems for a year and MS which has kept me bed bound, along with my thyroid removed and the hormones not working.
The answer the Dr said and I agree is to get under 100kg, Im 127kg and was 95kg solid mus when I blew 3 discs playing league 20 years ago. Luckily the bottom one is not dead (dessicated, void of fluid), but it is permanetly pressing on my spine, so whilst I have to suck up the pain I have to also be careful as getting off the Loo is the most common way it gets pressed further into the spine, serious lol.
So if Im loosing 35-40kg, but want to be back in the water, what is the best way for me to go about this? Change suits every 15kg or 10kg? Buy used pissed in suits? Being in the water is one of the best ways for rehab of the spine. Once Im in my recommended BMI, my body will demand less need for thyroid hormones and because my body is not failing due to weight etc, my anti bodies will reduce and my auto immune disorders will lower.
Im not going to sit back and let life pass me by, I intend to kick its ass and get back into what I love, not thinking about it and being depressed I cant do it.

Top stuff and that attitude is the way to go. You'll get there. Me after putting up with an old suit for many years and finally replacing with a new one. Wow chalk and cheese. The new one actually works and I can comfortably dive in winter without getting chilled. Might be expensive to replace the suit regularly but if you're comfortable and not chilled you'll go more often and stay longer.

Thanks Bro. Its been a hard 8 years, losing a parent, the other one now on the brink of death with a daily carer, due to smoking. And now Ive developed these bizarre auto immune conditions. MS sucks, it hurts for no reason. But Ive seen so many people beat it.
Anyway, you are so right about the suit. Maybe I should just stick to good value suits like Wettie until Im back to weight and can afford a Beauchat or something really nice (I agree its soooo work it). 5mm in winter is ok, but I feel you need a hood.

I doubt if will get back to old weight.. Maybe close Thu if go real hard on excerise and good diet Cut sugar flour out cut right back on hi carb stuff like spuds and replace the volume with broccoli cali and cut right back on cheeses type stuff. Biggest issue will be sugar addiction.. That's harder than you think.. Once you get back.. You will find that over many months /yr or so, espec over winter time.. you will put back on 5 or 10 kg Then is a full on to get down for the next summer. Once you get that back.. And looking maybe 3 /4 yrs from now, you will find it easy to drop the 3 to 5kg you gain over winter for the summer. As to the wet suit size.. Drop the weight off 1st to establish your new weight margin, add a couple kg and then get a new suit to fit that.
I whacked on weight a few yrs back.. Due to disability stuff.. Dropped did the above.. Found that is how things work in the long term. My wet suit is set at 82kg..hit 83 and.. Well don't bother trying to put on.. But easy over 3 or 4 days to drop down I to the 81kg. My actual target.. From the original weight loss was 75.. I managed to hit and maintain around 78/79..winter gets upto 82/83. Currently sitting 79.5 after the open heart surgery couple weeks back. Don't think it is easy.. It means things like rules.. If over a target.. Mine 80kg..dont have a beer or brisket or a lolly.. Period. Having legs that don't work well meant 4X 10 min sections a day on one of those slider excerise maintained.. Thats get a good sweat up plus another 5mins. Its all about deciding hat you want and doing it
My grandmother used to say "if you want something you will get it.. If you don't get it you didn't really want it in the 1st place.. And don't waste your time and others talking about it"

Look at changing suits as a sign of great progress and fair reward for hard work done! Not sure on the best option but even if its second hand, it sign of success.
Don't know if you have read up on Ketosis - low carb, med protien, high fat. Not for everyone but has worked well in my case and haven't had to push the body with exercise.
Go well.

Thanks all, especially Steps as I know you have been through a lot yourself.
I dont think I will ever look like a 95kg solid muscle cut Rugby League centre again rofl.
But Ive also lost a lot of musle, so id say 85kg is my normal weight and my target weight now is 90-95kg, once Im there and Ive done back rehab for 9 months I will start using weight training. I could add body weight stuff now but I want to keep focussed.
My diet is so on point it would make you vomit with how ridiculously healthy it is. Yes sugar is a pain, so is coffee and so is wheat (its in everything). So I mostly eat whole vegetable/fruit foods, I also use a vegan protein powder just so the fruitose gets absorbed even slower. But if you eat your designated calories consistently through the day, blood sugar levels should not be a problem. I also have so many supplements for the MS, none taste bad though.
So if Im 3xl now, you are saying go with a 2xl etc?
The first 20kg will fall off fast, Ive seen my body do this before. Once Im below 100kg my auto immune anti bodies lower and I start to feel normal again, my thyroid issues go and the pain from early stage MS goes. The power of fruit and veg and good fats for the brain and anti oxidants for anti inflammatory.
People please vote yes to people being allowed to grow their own Cannabis medicine. I do think we need an age limit of course. I think following Canada is as easy as it gets. Also having access to all the strains in Cali that can help various pain and related illnesses. Its known cannabis opens the airways and broncials, so supposedly in Cali the doctors prescribe Cannabis as it has the reverse effect you think it would. Dont quote me, google haha.
This is the strain I want, ACDC 20:1 CBD to THC. The CBD is for the mind and body healing and the thc just lifts the mood a little.
This website is a wealth of knowledge for pain etc and growing and all kinds of things. It says what each strain is good for etc.
As an example this is ACDC, but you can search by symptoms as well. https://www.leafly.com/hybrid/acdc" rel="nofollow - https://www.leafly.com/hybrid/acdc

NZ T.. Little caution on the fats thing.. I do believe now that my open heart surgery to by pass the widow make artery on the heart.. And a couple others is directly related to the fat intake over the last 7 plus yrs..
As to the canabis growing for srlg medicstion.. That a BS route. Bottom line around 9 to 10gm per 3 months is about what is required.. A plant.. Donna what that would crop.. Guess a 1k. That relates to what? 300 months.. 25 yrs(?) Above that is just tea head stuff. And tea heads just come up with reasons excuses for not actually doing the hard yards to achieve the things they know have to do and need to do. Be it prescription drugs or whatever that screw your head.. A s rewd head gets nowhere.

You kinda lost me on the cannabis steps haha. It doesnt cure everything, but its proven to cure some things and inflammation is one of the basics, that cause cancer. Stopping cell splitting etc.
If its like some other places its 4 plants per person, you should get a pound from a plant. But we will see what they advise. I might move to Canberra end of this year. NZ is just too far behind the times with Jacinda in the PM seat where she shouldnt be given she renegged basically on the deal that got her the PM gig.
for me im unlikely to feel a high from the ACDC plants if they allow us to import the Cali seeds which have sooooo many solutions, but ACDC is more about reducing inflammation in the body and brain.
You dont have to smoke weed that gets your blasted, thats a thing of the past. Cannabis has moved on so far now the major Pharma companies own all the big Cannabis farms in Cali etc because they know there is major theraputic benefits and they can cash in from a plant as well as their synthetic medications, which do truely mess your head up. Just give people the option, people are allowed to drink alcohol, lets be fair considering the harm alcohol does, and I cant believe tobacco is still legal.
As long as your brain is developed there is negligible possibilities of negative side effects. Of course a paranoid psychotic who smokes a sativa might get more paranoid, but these sorts are likely smoking crystal anyway. Give people the option to deliver a safe product that they can grow themselves. It may not benefit everyone medically, but the other side is, some people including Doctors and Lawyers in NZ like to smoke and get baked, so why should they lose their license over smoking a herb. They arent hurting anybody. Work place testing can tell how long ago the product was consumed so thats a non issue.

Also this is where the grow issue gets blown out of the water.. You have no control without lsbority analysis of the dosage. A parrel example would be say striping willow bark and chew the inner bark for aspirin pain relief.. Not enough.. No effect.. To much run into over dose issues..
And the same applies to so many of the herbal remedies.. Witch funny enough are sold in tablet form with known strength. Very much the modern wich doctor. Back in history villages had people who made up these herbal remedies, most containing modern drug equivalents,. The information as when to gather, time of yr, how to extract, and how much to administer was put together thru generations of passing down..
Legalising or admidtrstion of home grown is no more that a very hit in miss method that goes back to pre stone age medicine... It BS

In regards to the wetsuit thing. The key to a good wetsuit is the fit for your body shape. Brand doesnt matter too much although yes some do wear quicker than others.
Beuchat suit was terrible for me. Arguably the coldest suit ive ever had to swim around because im built like a twig.. Riffe suit was lovely fantastic. Destroyed it within 1 year 3months with only diving every 2nd weekend of the year (4-6hrs in the water each time though)
Current suit is the moray suit with whatever weird glue moray use that goes all sticky. Yeah the glues a pain however stops the stitching coming apart so appears to be lasting considerably longer than the riffe suit and half the blimmin cost.
As for dropping a suit size. Too tight of a suit is more painful than freezing to death in my eyes.. Although for a thin bloke I don't feel the cold anywhere near as much as others do.. Lifes short get out there nd go for it

Do you mean after dive the suit is sticking like white on rice when finished despite soaping?
Steps I disagree about home grown Buds, if it is controlled and use the seeds available that you can choose your crop for health, ie browsing leafily.com there is no better medicine for my inflamed cells that are stopping all hormones due the the FT3 being blocked by inflammation and possibly high RT3 due to opiate pain relief.
So to me growing a plant of ACDC that is 20:1 CBD to THC makes shed load of sense, somewhat for pain, but more so for inflammation. I read it is something like 100x more powerful than Norwegian fish oil and cucumin combined. Re modern meds, they have caused a lot of my problems not helped them, we have proven this with science and education/specialists. Please believe that is the truth.

Nah mate. The black glue goes sticky and smudges off onto things. Moray gloves have been banned from being worn while using the throttle in the little lazer as a result. Have to use meths to get the crap off the fibreglass. Just a pain in general. I could be wrong but I think its a reaction to UV. Eitherway goes sticky. Not the end of the world just gotta keep it in mind

Just buy a wetsuit your comfortable in and get out there and do it. Change wetsuits when ya have too! I’m sure having to buy smaller wetsuits is a problem a lot of blokes would like to have ! Good luck with your recovery/goals.
I’ve been own my own weight loss mission since January, have lost 14kg so far, cut out carbs (except beer). Plenty of exercise. Still plenty to go but I’m in no hurry.

Steps I disagree about home grown Buds
Sry if bit blunt but seen heard that ' justification' stuff far too often over the decades M8 that sounds like the old tea head BS that far too often just floats around ..usually by those who are all ideas and no do.

Hi Fiz, I'll just comment on the brands of suits I own there is others out there to consider.
IMO Cressi are my favorite off the shelf suits but a little more prone to wear and tear than Moray. Moray don't have the flexibility of my Cressi and Elios but as stated before are hard wearing though I'm yet to test the longevity as I've only had it 2.5 months. Rob Allen are good comfortable and hard wearing but you seem to need big shoulders and a beer gut to fill them out properly. Elios is my pick of suits. Custom built so fit like a glove warm and fairly hard wearing BUT pricey in terms of shipping.
------------- Go hard or die trying.

Thasnks all great advice on suits, I do like cressi for feeling like im not wearing a suit, not restructung. I guess I could get away with one suit smaller and do that once more and im where I need to be. Suits do stretch enough to accomodate a solid gut and love handles? haha
