Where is good to fish in Dunedin, can your surf cast from Saint Clair beach? Wanting to get into fishing just moved here from UK. Does anyone go out from Dunedin and fancy taking a newbie with them

Hey Jamesbennett,

I used to head out to the Aramoana spit when I used to study down there and I've always had pretty good haul of blue cods using strips of squid on a dropper rig casted out. You can go right to the end if you want but I'd say 3/4 of the way would be fine too.

P.S if it's dark make sure you don't pee on a seal.. trust me it wont like that at all and you'll end up crapping yourself when it grunts.. LOL

Also, have a look at the old gun placements on the way to the Albatross Colony. Park up on the side of the road and walk down the foot path and watch out for the thorny yellow bushes Thumbs Up

Good luck!
