Well, a nice day out today, but it looks like the Christmas and New Year silly season has already begun. Gin Palace launch motored into the bay at Roberton st speed...... Then muppets divingvat a Black Rocks with no dive flag!

| Hmm only two observations of idiocy in the bay. Sorry to say that's not yet xmas/new year. When you just start shaking your head from side to side at the idiots continuously that's xmas/new year! On the plus side all that head shaking help's you keep an eye out for the next richardhead and a bonus of spotting a work-up that only 87 other boats spotted. Not the silly season for nothing I suppose |

| At least he's not going 20 I suppose. Little bit disappointed by a well known skipper and boat today, who come along and anchored right on a little rock that I was drifting on and picking fish up off, till I got blocked out. Guess its not allways the weekend warriors that cause my grumpiness to surface. Found another little patch eventually and done well but still annoyed at having had to move. And its only gunna get worse...….sigh |

Yep I've felt the pain. Ran a boat for several years and sometimes felt like the pied piper of the pacific. Still chuckle when I see my mate who still is in the game, divert boats from all directions and distances to converge on him even if he isn't on the fish yet. I can understand what they are thinking, but I find up here in the bay, if you can get away from everyone else then that's often where the fish are. So if you see me on my own, Leave me be No fish here boss! |

| Yep, a couple of years ago, middle foul was like queen street at Christmas....so we went to ninepin, 2 boats, I had some fun catching my first kahawai on fly. |

What can be amusing at this time of year is that people don't realize that there are fish everywhere if you look for them in the right 1000 acres or so. There isn't a charter boat that is parking on some secret spot or some special place right now. They just hunted until they found some fish. If they move to find more fish they might not even move that far. The thing is that so few people seem to realise that the other name for a depth sounder is 'fish finder'. I have watched boats drive over where I know there are heaps of fish showing just to get to beside the charter boat. We have driven over the fish 10 minutes earlier and decided to stop on a different school a bit further on instead of turning back, but these guys have driven over sigh that any private boat should have jumped all over. There is a reason why the charter guys catch a lot more fish and most if it has nothing at all to do with having any sort of spots at this time of year. |
