Hi guys, I have a lowrance hds7 with navionics card and for the last five years it hasn’t missed a beat but on the weekend it decided to stop giving me any detail on the chart, all it now gives me is a basic outline of nz....I have tried restarting it numerous times and removing the card and inserting it again to no avail. Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers Simon

Perhaps a long shot, but remove the card and see if there are any gold coloured contacts on the connector where it physically plugs in, if so give it a light clean with methylated spirits or better yep Isopropanol Alcohol (tape head cleaner) as they may be dirty/corroded etc.

Have a look on YouTube should be some videos on there showing and explaining how to do it. I'm terrible at explaining how to do computer stuff

For mine I download the updates/patches onto a mini sd card on my laptop and then load it into my sounder.

It's an older hds though and I am out of date for sure on current models.

I worry that it's more than a patch you are dealing with.

My mates went bad and the price of repair would have been to much to risk the attempt.
He got the impression Lowrance didn't want to know anything more than a couple of years old.

Not trying to be a bummer but he ended up buying new.

If it was me I'd try someone else's card or put another SD card in there and see if it can read it just to prove the card hasn't shyte it'self. Sounds like it's not reading the card at all and gone back to the basic installed map.

5 years is about all they're good for going by my experience too. I have 2x hds5 and they run very hot. I'm surprised mine have lasted this long. Last one gave up pre 5 years and it too was "unfixable".
